What's even more surprising though is that MS had a Chinese version of A.I. chatbot called Xiaoice. Seems like quite succesful in China at least according to this NY Times piece http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/04/science/for-sympathetic-ear-more-chinese-turn-to-smartphone-program.html?_r=2

Microsoft launched Tay (https://www.tay.ai). It's A.I. powered chat bot that is good, well, for chatting. You can with her on Twitter, Kik and Skype's GroupMe app. Give it a try. I personally wasn't really able to get any sensible answers from her.
