This common native is the Common Sendudok (Melastoma malabathricum), also known as the Singapore Rhododendron!

It produces flowers that are light to dark magenta, or even white. The fruits are edible but tasteless. You might not want to eat them though – the pulp stains your tongue blue-black!

Ever spotted a monitor lizard during your walks in our green spaces? It might just be a Malayan Water Monitor (Varanus salvator)!

One of the largest lizard species, the Malayan Water Monitor can be spotted close to water bodies in areas such as Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, Kranji Marshes, and Pulau Ubin.

With over 2,000 hectares of forest cover, Central Catchment Nature Reserve is our largest nature reserve in Singapore!

Home to some of the richest forests in terms of biodiversity, here you can find the MacRitchie Trails – a network of winding paths over 20km long.

Just like how cats teach their young to hunt, your feline may be trying to teach you a thing or two by presenting you with its catch! This action could also be a way of seeking attention or playtime from you.

If you wish to discourage your cat from killing and bringing its prey to you, use food or treat-dispensing toys to mimic the hunting process. You can also provide regular playtime for stimulation and exercise.
