Earlier this year, the Canadian government announced a new immigration program to help the country rebound from the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The new program, which is still in the works, has been met with mixed reactions from Canadian citizens and immigrants alike. This blog post will take a closer look at the program and what it could mean for Canada’s future. What Is the New Canadian Immigration Program? The new Canadian immigration program is still in the early stages of development, but we do know that it will be aimed at attracting highly skilled workers to the country. Immigration Minister Sean Fraser states that the program will be “employer-driven” and focus on attracting workers in “critical occupations.”

Fraser has also said that the program will be flexible and responsive to Canada’s changing labour needs. This means that the list of occupations considered “critical” may change over time as Canada’s economy evolves. What Are the Criteria for Eligibility? The criteria for eligibility have not yet been announced, but Fraser has stated that interested applicants will need to meet certain “economic thresholds.” Applicants will also likely need a valid job offer from a Canadian employer to be considered for the program.

When Will the Program Launch?
The program has no firm launch date yet, but Fraser said it would likely roll out sometime in 2021.

The new Canadian immigration program is still in development, but it shows promise as a way to attract much-needed workers to the country. Stay tuned for more updates as details about the program are released!

Canada Study Visa: Know About The New IELTS Requirement

https://immigrationnewscanada.ca/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/International-students-in-canada.jpeg Last Updated On 4 July 2023, 10:03 AM EDT (Toronto Time)
We receive a lot of queries regarding IELTS requirement for Canada study visa, especially with new changes to IELTS score for Student Direct Stream (SDS).

There is no one line answer to this question, so we believe that writing this article in detail for understanding IELTS requirement for Canadian study visa is much needed.

First thing to clarify, if you have overall 6 bands in IELTS Academic with 1-2 modules 5.5, then you have always been eligible to apply for Canadian study visa via general study visa application or non-SDS. https://immigrationnewscanada.ca/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/WhatsApp-Image-2023-06-30-at-3.01.28-PM-1.jpeg for study visa for Jan 2024 intake

Only the citizens of 14 eligible countries are eligible to apply for Canada study visa via Student Direct Stream (SDS).

Rest of the countries have to apply for Canadian study visa under the general stream or we can say non-SDS.

Citizens of 14 SDS eligible countries are also eligible to apply under non-SDS.

As per IDP IELTS, it is confirmed that beginning August 10, 2023 only overall 6 bands in IELTS Academic will be needed for SDS study visa, rather than 6 in each module.

This means individuals having 5.5 in 1-2 modules with overall 6 bands will be eligible to apply under SDS beginning August 10.

1. To secure an offer letter from Canadian college or university, IELTS requirement varies depending on the level of college program for SDS or Non-SDS study visa. There is no separate requirement for any of the 2 streams to get an offer letter.
2. However, IRCC has set a minimum criteria for IELTS requirement to apply for Canadian study visa under SDS. Currently, it is set at overall 6 in IELTS Academic or General with no module less than 6.
3. For Non-SDS study visa, IRCC has not set any minimum IELTS requirement to apply for Canadian study visa and IELTS is only needed to secure an offer letter from colleges.

To make it more clear, see the below table for contrasting difference in SDS and non-SDS study visa. Jump ToSo for non-SDS, if you are able to secure an offer letter from Canadian college or university with your IELTS score, you still need to mention your IELTS Academic score while applying, but there is NO set minimum requirement for IRCC.

Conversely, for SDS study visa application, if you are able to secure an offer letter from Canadian college or university with your IELTS score, you still need to meet the minimum IELTS score requirement of 6 in each module of IELTS General or Academic for IRCC as well.

As reported by IDP IELTS based on the information in Canada Gazette, this IRCC requirement of needing 6 in each module of IELTS Academic will be removed starting August 10, rather individuals having an overall 6 band will be eligible for Student Direct Stream (SDS).

Canada Gazette language is not clear on IELTS Academic requirement as it only mentions IELTS Academic (minimum 6) doesn’t mention in each module as it clearly states for IELTS General (CLB 7 in each of 4 language abilities).

Once again IRCC has kept this language wide open for interpretation and IDP IELTS being a reputed IRCC approved organization for IELTS claims that applicants don’t need IELTS Academic 6 in each module for SDS.

IRCC is known for backing down their stance on certain policies and update their language as we saw in PGWP Extension policy error this April, which was then quietly changed by IRCC. 4 New English Tests For Canada Study Visa Under SDS

Always remember, individuals with overall 6 with 1-2 module with 5.5 have always have been eligible to apply for study visa under non-SDS, but if you are seeking admission in high level dip[...]

New IRCC Policy Clearing Up Visitor And Super Visa Backlog

https://immigrationnewscanada.ca/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/IRCC-Minister-Sean-Fraser-March-8.jpeg Last Updated On 3 July 2023, 9:58 AM EDT (Toronto Time) IRCC published the details of new temporary public policy on June 29, 2023 which has been speeding up the processing of visitor visa and super visa applications.

Originally, this public policy came in effect with signature of Immigration Minister Sean Fraser on February 28, 2023 and is valid until December 31, 2023.

As per the latest available data, IRCC has been managing around 2.25 million immigration and visa applications. Out of these, 1.3 million are temporary resident visa applications which includes study permits, visitor visa, super visa, and work permits.

New IRCC temporary policy is aimed at clearing the accumulating visitor visa and super visa inventory to increase Canada’s appeal to visitors, families, and business people.

As of now, this policy is only applicable to visitor visa or super visa applications submitted on or before January 16, 2023.

Under this new policy, visa officer may not assess whether a foreign national will leave Canada by end of the period authorized for their stay, while processing an application for a visitor visa or super visa. Jump ToThis will save processing time by removing an extra task of assessing the above information and result in clearing of backlog at faster pace.

It is important to note that this specific reason has long been one of the most used refusal reasons for visitor visas.

Furthermore, this new policy only for visitor visas also allow visa officer an exemption to waive off “requirement for a foreign national not to be inadmissible for financial reasons.”

This is also one of the common refusal reasons that visa officers uses to refuse visitor visa applications stating “an applicant does not have enough funds to support their stay in Canada.” High Demand Jobs In British Columbia That Pay Over $40/hour

Facilitating the processing of existing applications in the inventory by reducing eligibility standards would prepare Canada for a fresh start and a return to pre-pandemic processing timelines, maintaining our worldwide competitiveness in the future. Automated IRCC ProcessingCanadian immigration department has been using automated processing for administrative tasks to streamline and expedite processing of temporary resident applications.

As per the immigration department, they have been using advanced analytics and other automated technology to improve the processing of certain temporary applications.

The new automated tools only aid in the sorting and processing of applications, but never refuses or suggests refusals.

According to our sources, Canadian immigration is currently using automated processing for visitor visas and visitor record (extension), but recently also processing study permit with same automation tools.

Previously, there have been a lot of concerns raised regarding the use of ‘CHINOOK’ to process applications and immigration pundits say they have noticed Chinook refusing a visa application.

However, the Immigration Department as well as Immigration Minister Sean Fraser has repeatedly kept their stance stating that an immigration officer always decides to approve or refuse applications. How does automation tools process temporary visa applications? When an application is submitted, the tool sorts your application and determine whether it fits the key eligibility conditions.

If it is eligible, the program will forward it to an officer who will check eligibility and make the ultimate decision.

To sort applications, the algorithm employs machine learning and data from past IRCC applications.

The tool aids in the elimination of repetitive [...]
