2023-03-05 04:51:48 National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF)

Shri Om Birla, Speaker Lok Sabha to address the valedictory function of the 4th National Youth Parliament Festival on March 2, 2023.

About NYPF :

The objective of the National Youth Parliament Festival is to hear the voice of the youth who will join various careers in the near future, including public services.

The first edition of NYPF was held in 2019 with the theme, “Be the voice of New India and find solutions and contribute to policy”.

The second edition was held in 2021  and the third edition in 2022.

The fourth edition was launched with the theme, “Ideas for a better tomorrow : India for the World”.

District Youth Parliaments (DYP) were conducted from 25-29 January 2023.

More than 2.01 lakh youth from 748 districts of all the states and UTs participated at 150 venues across the country.

The first and second position holders of DYP participated in the State Youth Parliament (SYP) Festival.

The first three winners will get the opportunity to speak before the speaker of the  Lok Sabha on March 2, 2023.

After the military junta took control of Myanmar, the state-owned company, which had exclusive rights over the country’s precious timber and teak trade, also came under the military.

There was a number of timber auctions since the coup and sales of this “conflict” wood, pro-democracy supporters allege, are a key revenue stream for the military regime.
  
Illegal harvesting of timber and teak from Myanmar:

There have been increased instances of illegal trade of Myanmar timber; Global Forest Watch says the country, over the last two decades, has lost forest cover roughly the size of Switzerland.

International NGO Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) released data, which showed that over 70% of the logs exported from Myanmar between 2000-2013, were illegally harvested.
