PRACTICE THE WORD

For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. James 1:23-24

For example, the Word says, “...that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men” (1 Timothy 2:1). You don’t have to wait to feel like praying for others before you do so, no. You pray for others because the Word says to. Therefore, make this a daily practise.

You can start out by having a list of people you'd like to pray for every day. Practise this daily, and you'll be blessed.

BE BOLD AND SPEAK OUT!

Joshua had just received the responsibility of leading the children of Israel into the Promised Land (Joshua 1:2). God knew He would face challenges and encouraged Him to be bold and courageous (Joshua 1:6). He’s saying the same to you today.

Refuse to be intimidated or afraid to stand up for Jesus. No matter where you may be; in school, in your neighbourhood or in the park, speak out for Jesus and talk about His love for the world.

MONDAY 18

DON'T LOSE HEART

Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, Luke 18:1

Some are quick to lose heart when they don’t see the answers to their prayers. That's because they didn’t have faith. Remember Abraham's story, his wife was past the age of having children when God told him he'll be a father. The Bible says, “He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief...” (Romans 4:20). He didn’t lose heart and sure enough he got a miracle.

If there’s something you've been praying and believing God for, it might be for the healing of a loved one, don’t give up in prayer until you get the answer.

SUNDAY 17

GOD PROVED HIS LOVE

But God demonstrated His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

Love is both said and proved by actions. God showed His love for us by sending His Son Jesus to die for our sins (John 3:16). This shows that love isn’t only spoken, it is acted.

Do you love God? I’m sure your answer is a loud YES! Then you've got to prove it, don’t merely say it. Prove it through your service to the Lord as you win souls, show kindness to others, and give in church.

SATURDAY 16

BE QUICK TO FORGIVE

Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. Colossians 3:13

Lily came to school with a sullen face because she was upset with her brother Derek. “I can’t forgive him” she said to her best friend, Amy. But Amy showed Lily in God’s Word that she could, and should forgive Derek, for she was full of God's love. “You're right Amy. God loved and forgave me in Christ, I should do the same too”.

As God's child, you shouldn't find it difficult to forgive people when they hurt you. Remember God's love has been shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5). So, be quick to forgive, and do so wholeheartedly.

FRIDAY 15

THE PROMISE OF THE FATHER

Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high. Luke 24:49

The Holy Spirit is the Promise of the Father. From the Old Testament, the prophets talked about Him (Isaiah 32:15). However, they couldn’t receive that Promise until the Lord Jesus had come to the earth. Today, the Promise of the Father—the Holy Spirit, is in the earth.

He brought with Him the power and presence of God. With Him, your life in Christ becomes exciting and full of the miraculous.

I encourage you fo stir up His presence in you every day as you fellowship with Him by speaking in other tongues, and studying the Word.

Today’s opening scripture are the words of David. David faced a lot of challenges, but never took his mind from the Word. No wonder, he was so successful as a king. For some, the moment they feel any pain in their bodies, they run to the doctor. There’s nothing wrong with that anyway, but there’s a better way. Respond to such situations the Word-way.

Remember the Holy Spirit lives in you and He revives your body (Romans 8:11). That’s you! So, what do you do? Place your hands where it hurts and command the pain to go in the Name of Jesus, and it'll leave your body. That’s how to do it the Word-way!

WALK WITH THE LORD

The title of today’s devotion reminds me of a song we sing in church. A part of it goes like this: “When we walk with the Lord, in the light of His Word, what a glory He sheds on our way”.

Walking with the Lord means having a deep fellowship with Him through His Word. Every time you study and meditate on the Word, you’re walking with Him.

Therefore, study your Bible more each day, and spend time speaking in tongues. This is how to walk with the Lord, and enjoy His blessings in your life.

When you get up every morning, do you think about doing something special for God? If yes, then whatever it is should be the most important thing that you'll do that day. But, if your answer is no, it’s time you made a change. For example, saying your prayers in the morning must be a priority.

So, start out today to reach out to someone with the message of salvation. This is God’s number one job, and it should be your priority.

Every child of God is born as an answer to the problems of the world. Joseph came with the solution to the problem of famine in the land of Egypt. Moses was an answer to the cries for deliverance from the children of Israel. The Lord Jesus came as an answer to the whole world. Hallelujah!

As God's child, you’ve come as an answer to the problems in your world. Whether it’s in your family, school or neighbourhood, you're the answer. Therefore, take your place as you speak in other tongues, and the Holy Spirit will guide you on what to do.
