VO: I liked your application but the only issue is its exceeding 120 days.
Me: yes officer am aware of it.
VO: place your right hand 4 fingers.
VO: Handed me a 221(g) slip and the passport, and asked to drop my passport i20 and the 221(g) slip at the nearest consulate when it'll be 120 days of start date.
Me: Is it approved as of now?
VO: It's rejected as of now but you need not give your interview again. just submit which I've written in the form.
Me: Thank you officer, have a good day.
Vo: Thank you.

VO : Ufffff.. ok son, I am approving your visa. You study well and enjoy your Trip!!

Me : With huge relief.. thank you so much officer. This made my day!!

VO : He showed thumps up!! With a smile.

Note : I won’t say confident is all that matters. You should have a bit of luck as well. Because the same VISA officer has rejected 2 candidates before me for grilling 3-4 minutes but I saw them fumbling when asked follow up questions. My advise is to stand on your word strongly and do not change your words. If luck favours, you might get a chance to fly. Also there are some speculations going around but I didnt see any such environment inside the Embassy.

VO : American Male officer in 40s (looking handsome and strict like school principal). While crossing from one end to other. I literally prayed not to make me stand in his que but god had other plans

Vo: Come forward (with a hand sign)

Me: Good morning officer! How are you doing today?

Vo: I am doing good, how you doing?

Me : I am doing great, thank you.

VO : Please pass me your I20 and Passport.

Me : Here are the documents sir. Do you need the sewis as well?

Vo: No as of now, I may ask you if necessary.

He scanned my documents for 10 secs and then started interview.

VO : Sooo you are going to Lewis university right?

Me : No officer, it is Franklin University (I answered it with firm voice)

Vo : Sorry mate, my bad. You have been rejected last time. Do you know the reason why?

Me : officer, to be frank I am unsure about the reason I have been rejected last time. I feel I wasn’t communicated my intent properly to the Visa Officer to make her decision. But I am confident about the university and the course I’ve chosen so I haven’t made any changes to my DS160 (answered it very confidently)

Vo : Okay! What made you stand so confident about this university?

Me : officer, I have done extensive research on the options I had. The curriculum offered by Franklin is very relevant and close to my area of interest. Also this university is offering me a tier 2 SAS Specialisation along with a capstone project.

VO : what are the other universities that you applied and how many admits?

Me : named the 5 universities I applied and told I have admits from all of them.

VO: what are those subjects that are close to your interest?

Me : officer, subjects like issues in database management and marketing management and analytics are the subjects which no other university is offering (I dont know if others are offering, I told blindly) and if I get a chance, I would like to complete a research on these.

VO : Impressive! When did you complete your undergrad sir?

Me : I have completed my undergrad in 2013 April officer. (He suddenly stopped typing and looked into my eyes. After that he is never typing, just shooting questions)

VO : whats your undergrad CGPA?

Me : officer it is 6.6 without any backlogs.

VO : why do you want to go to masters after so long? What are you waiting for since then!!

Me : Officer as soon as I completed my undergrad, I got placement in an IT company. Though I have plan, i didn’t had the time to get prepared for my master’s.

VO : Ahaa, what were you doing since then?

Me : officer, I have seven years+ of corporate experience. My previous organisation is Amazon where I have worked for 4 years and now currently working with Genpact as process developer in data analysation.

VO : Can you explain me your job role and the link between the course and your experience?

Me : I have explained my job role in detail and mentioned subjects above and matched them with the job role. (The answer went for one long minute without fumbling)

VO : wait! I am really confused now. You seem to be very confident, well established professionally. Why do you want to take chance and leave all these behind?

Me : Officer, corporate world is very competitive. At this point of time in my career, pursuing masters in business analytics will not only deepen my skills in this field but also make me future ready for any leadership challenges.

VO : Who is funding you sir?

Me : my mother is my primary sponsor. Her take home is 11.5 lakh per annum and she is working in XX company as general manager and I also have an educational loan of XX amount from XX bank.

Vo : whats your father?

Me : My father passed away.

Me: (I messed up here I forget the facts which I learnt then I said I know malware analysis)
Vo: (SHe glanced at me like)

Vo: how many university I had applied?
Me: (I didn't applied to any other university except this but how could I said that so I lied and give name to near by university and I always was a slow speaker so he couldn't listen)
Me: (in mind as I read body language I quickly realized by his facial expressions that she gonna denied me)

Me: No , Officer I haven't taken Sat exam as there is no need for that exam score for my application and it's waived off from my school

VO: What's your father do and what about funding.?

ME : My Father has his own xxx business...my Father total annual income is 18lakhs, and he has savings of 30 lakhs...also I have secured educational loan of 30 lakhs based on collateral from union Bank

Vo: as your father is business men and his savings income is 18lakhs nd you just have savings of 30 lakhs nd uh also taken 30 lakhs loan...it's seems to be suspicious...I don't think u have sufficient fund..

Me: No officer I have sufficient funds..my Father has movable and immovable assets of 10cr97 lakhs..on top of that I got scholarship from my school

Vo : do uh have any siblings.?

Me : Yes.. I have one younger brother studying at 10th grade

VO didn't ask me anything about my plans , course and university..that indian guy is just rejecting visa....seriously that was so hard for me..but he just gave me rejection without any proper reason....

Vo is American bald guy..I don't know but I was interviewed by 2 American visa officer.
Program: Bachelor in data science ( I didn't change my university and course)

Me: Good morning sir! Happy baishakhi..how are doing today.?
Vo : I'm doing great what about you.?
Me : I'm also feeling positive.
Vo : so are you going to Arizona state university right..that's really good location right..
Me : Yes sir it is..
Vo: where are you going and in which field.?
Me : I want to pursue my bachelor program in data science at Arizona state university..
Vo: alright, why only this university..
Me : well I looked into multiple university but I finalized asu because of the flexible course..I have also talked with asu professor Ryan mouth and he had explained about my course curriculum and I greatly admired with that..
Vo interrupted me..!
Vo: how are you going to fund your education..
Me : my father is going to sponsor my Education with his savings of 65 lakhs..also I have secured educational loan worth it 30 lakhs , apart from that I have got scholarship from asu
Vo: ohh you got scholarship..!! Do you have any proof about it
Me : Yes sir here it is..!
Vo checked that document properly..!!
And typing something
Vo: so what does your father do..?
Me: my father is business man and doing manufacturing of readyment Cement wall also he has government contracts and taking contract from clients, furthermore we have some property which has given for rent..
Then vo is looking in screen around 1 min and talking with another visa officer...

I was really nervous what results will I get

And finally vo has been approved my visa..and said have nice stay in United States
Me : thanks officer have a nice day..!!

Tips: just be confident and try to give clear answers to the vo in every question...so they can get right information about your self and vo can satisfy with your ans...
