There’s a story here. Much more than the casual computer user might realize: It’s a story about how people started using computers back in the early days, about a power-hungry man named Bill Gates who pushed subpar software on the world for something like thirty years before people started learning better—it’s a story about how he realized he wouldn’t always be able to do that some time around when he lost his attempts to destroy Unix-like Operating Systems (2005-2007), how he started ‘getting out’ of the software business and ‘getting in’ to everything else he could, and harming the world in different ways with his monopolistic mindset, in the process.

The trend is still a slow one, considering where end users of technology are coming from, but the trend is clear and consistent enough now for most in the industry to see … and it’s accelerating.
