UK-based startups

Reach out to startups in the UK. There are many and they also need help. They need contracts, compliances, data protection, IP-related help – and you can offer them all that.

You can also offer them services like virtual assistant, content writing, operations – whatever gets your foot in the door. For example, one of our learners began by remotely writing blog posts for law firms. That is a foot in the door already. This is even easier to do for startups.

This is also important because if UK employers are paying you for work, even remotely, it goes a long way when you apply for a visa.

Remember to reach out to startups that are not already big, preferably pre-series A, under 20 members. They are the ones who need help badly, and would welcome any assistance that came their way. And you spread your bets by helping several such startups.

Always make sure they write you nice testimonials on LinkedIn and Upwork. It’s very important to build a demonstrable track record for yourself. When they get more investments and grow bigger, they might just come back to you because they will have begun to rely on you.

However, if you do a bad job when you get a chance, they won’t like that. This works only if you can deliver results and not waste their time. How can you ensure that you are in a position to deliver results? You have to learn the work, of course.
