2022-01-06 19:47:50 For all those writing mains tomorrow—

4) It is very common to be little nervous before mains. Try to leave everything once your enter examination hall
I used to sit on my place in examination hall and look around and used to think that from this room even if 1 person is going to get interview call, it will be ME.

5) Whatever makes you CONFIDENT do that. I used to eat 1 banana and 1 sneaker before entering exam hall thinking that it will give me enough energy.
Between break I used to prepare black coffee and drink. My friend used to take power nap in break (he is in IDAS)

6) People in Delhi would have to fight WINTER as well. Wear sufficient clothes including GLOVES !! It is important to keep your hand warm.
In examination hall as soon as you get paper—- forget everything and FOCUS 100% on paper.
Last year I used to think why I kept centre in delhi, it is so cold. Don’t do it. Those things which are not under your control, leave it to almighty

7) It is advisable to complete the paper somehow. It is always good to devote equal time (11min for 15marker and 7min for 10 marker).
But in real exam I used to be left with 3 questions (10 marker) in last 10 minutes. My point is don’t panic— manage the time and answers in your best capacity.
You can score well by writing 18 questions and managing 2 questions by writing 1/1.5 pages

8) At every centre there are few people who arrives late and are not allowed to enter examination hall. Please don’t fall under this category. Arrange for travel and other things before hand !!

All the best once again !!
You WILL do well

2022-01-06 19:32:48 For all those who are writing mains tomorrow —

All the very Best for small small battles that you will have to fight to conquer mains.

Pack all the essentials beforehand. Generally I used to go according to plan eg I used to assign pens for each GS paper and back up pen for each.

There will be many questions where you won’t be that confident. But remember that you can score well in GS by attempting 10-12 questions well and then writing average answers for 8 questions.

Few last minutes tips

1) Never JUDGE your performance in the examination hall itself- you might score better where you feel that the paper didn’t went well and score less where you think that you have done well

2) Scoring in GS/Optional is RELATIVE.
So you have to outperform other people rather than writing best answers for every questions. If the paper is tough than it is tough for everyone
Eg Last year in GS 1, a question came on Persian art. I knew that maximum people won’t be aware about this. I attempted this question in last in 5 minutes and tried to MANAGE this question through the wider knowledge that I have of art and culture. I don’t think I wrote this answer well but even after that I scored 115 in GS1

3) Don’t discuss anything between the break. Utilise the break to cool and relax yourself and REVISE your short notes. It actually helped me a lot
In break I used to remind myself that I am going to write these points for sure (whatever I prepared as value addition eg name of committee/diagrams etc)

For some topics, diagrams can be made very easily. Diagrams adds value as well as fill pages and improves time management

Draw India’s map and show different things

1) Geography- resource distribution, rivers, mangroves, ports, places to show (asked in question)

2) disaster management- draw India’s map and show- which all areas are prone- can use different shades

3) History- to show places and empire extend (India map)

4) International Relations- draw world map and show the country which has been asked
Also resource distribution can be shown on world map
