On December 7, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution directed all mills and distilleries not to use sugarcane juice/syrup for making any ethanol with immediate effect.

A very informative article. Self explanatory

The above chart represent the share of various modes of cargo/freight transportation within India.

The share of rail freight has come down to 27% which is not a good sign for the overall efficiency of economy. At the time of Independence, the share of rail in cargo transportation. was more than 60%. Railway freight share has been replaced by Road which is costly also and is more environmentally polluting.
Since last few years, Govt. is aggressively modernizing the rail infrastructure which may improve the share of rail freight.

2023-12-10 16:07:40 The answer to the above question is (b).

Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India puts restrictions on export and import of various commodities including agriculture commodities under Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act 1992. Earlier DGFT had notified Minimum Export Price (MEP) to curb the export of onions and increase domestic supply for inflation control. But on 7th Dec DGFT totally banned the export of onions under Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act 1992 till 31st March 2024.

Real growth in Q2 (July - Sept. 2023) was 7.6% as measured from Q2 (July - Sept. 2022). In the post Covid period Govt. spent a lot on infrastructure and other welfare measures which has resulted in 'Crowding in' of private sector as this higher than expected Q2 growth is driven by investment.

Govt. has been able to spend more and crowd in private sector through increased borrowing and higher tax resources.

Tax buoyancy = % change in tax revenue divided by % change in nominal GDP = 16.3%/8.6% = 1.9

When we calculate Nominal GDP, it takes into account of both real GDP and inflation. And this inflation is combined effect of CPI and WPI. CPI is 5-6% but WPI is in negative.

Centre has approved a scheme in which Self Help Groups (SHGs) will be provided financial assistance to purchase drones for agricultural purposes (spraying nutrients & pesticides). Centre will provide financial assistance at 80% of the cost of drones. For example, if the cost of drone is Rs. 10 lakh and a SHG is purchasing a drone then Centre will give Rs. 8 lakh and then this drone can be rented by the SHGs to farmers and they (SHGs) can earn rental income.

Dollarization means replacing a country's currency with US Dollar. Argentina's new President has promised replacing its own currency 'Peso' with 'US Dollars'.
The article is self explanatory. You can just read the highlighted text.

Benefits:
1) Stable (foreign) Currency which will attract investment and growth
2) As the foreign currency can be earned only through exports (and foreign capital inflows), it would incentivize to promote exports and ease conditions for capital inflows
3) Previous governments could have forced Central banks to print money (monetization of deficit) and spend on wasteful expenditure but in case foreign currency they cant print and Govt. can earn money only through tax and other resources which will prevent inflation.

Negatives:
1) Central banks will loose control on monetary policy and can't influence the money supply
2) Central banks can't devalue currency to promote exports
