The charts give an account of the results of a survey into the most common benefits and drawbacks of Bowen Island from visitors’ perspective.
Overall, the survey results suggest that the main upside of living on Bowen Island is the local people while its biggest downside is the high cost of living.
With respect to the advantages of Bowen Island, above two-fifths of respondents cite local people as the main charm of the island, and it is closely followed by the scenery, which is voted for by roughly a third of visitors. In contrast, only just over a tenth of visitors praise good accommodation and culture as their favorite aspects of the island.
As for some negative aspects of Bowen Island, the high cost of living is found to be by far the biggest disadvantage, with half the visitors stating this issue, while twice as few respondents complain about entertainment, constituting a quarter. Other issues such as the weather and food quality, however, are less worrisome, only being mentioned by 15% and 10% of the visitors to the island respectively.

The pie charts compare energy production from different sources in a particular country in two years: 1985 and 2003.
Overall, while the production of energy from natural gas, coal and other renewables grew, power generated from oil and nuclear resources fell. Despite these changes, oil remained to be the main source of energy in 2003. The only energy source whose contribution remained unchanged was hydro.
Regarding energy sources whose contribution increased, coal had by far the biggest growth. Its share nearly tripled, going from 8% in 1985 to 22% in 2003. Similarly, significantly more energy was generated from natural gas in 2003 than previously, which climbed to about a quarter. By contrast, the smallest energy sector – other renewables – grew marginally by 3% in 2003.
On the other hand, power generation from other resources was subject to decline. The amount of energy produced from oil and nuclear both had gone down by about 14% by 2003, dropping to roughly two-fifths and a fifth respectively. Hydro, however, was the only source from which the same amount of energy was produced in both years, constituting a mere 4%.#task1
