2022-08-06 05:50:33 Goooood morning friends. We know you have been waiting for this announcement and eager to get to tonight’s voice chat, but before that let us introduce you to tonight’s guest speaker, Peter Poulada.

Peter has taught Persian History at Iranzamin College in Tehran, and then English in Kabul. He worked at the World Bank and then, from 1980 to 1994, in International Investment
Banking for Bankers Trust Company, furst in Turkey and then in International Capital Markets based in London but with frequent trips to the Middle East as well as Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand and China. In 1995, Peter co-founded Belgrave Capital Management, the first Hedge Fund in the United Kingdom to specialize in investing in Emerging Markets. Over the past 15 years Peter has organized and led seven private tours to Central Asia including to Turkmenistan in 2015 and to Tajikistan in 2011 with the specific goal of establishing Princeton in Asia (PiA) Fellowship opportunities in the region. Peter is a member of the Middle East Studies Association, the Royal Central Asian Society, the International Society for Iranian Studies, the Association for the Study of Persianate Societies, and he is Chair of the Advisory Council to the Near East Studies Department at Princeton University. He has published articles on Central Asia in the Journal of the Royal Society for Asian Studies and in Hali Magazine: the leading journal for the study of Islamic carpets and textiles. Peter is the author of Russian-Turkmen Encounters: The Caspian Frontier before the Great Game (2017), a study of Russian-Turkmen relations from 1550 to 1750. He holds a BA in Near Eastern Studies with Arabic and Persian language study from Princeton University and an MA in International Economics and Policy Studies from University of California, Berkeley.

Today we will be accompanied by another awesome guest speaker Ahat Nabiev. Ahat is an Audit Senior Manager at Moss Adams, national public accounting firm, currently working out of LA office in CA.
Ahat has practiced public accounting for nine years, serving private equity, venture capital and hedge funds, fund of funds, financial institutions, business development companies (BDCs), and broker-dealers.
Prior to joining Moss Adams, Ahat worked at a Big Four in San Diego, CA and RSM in NY and CT offices, providing audit and advisory services to large and middle-market companies in both public and private sectors focusing mostly on the financial services industry.
Ahat received his Masters degree in accountancy from Baruch college, Zicklin school of business and is a certified public accountant in states of NY, CT, and CA.

Tamanno was born in Uzbekistan and moved to the US in 2009. Recently graduating with her undergraduate degree in Entrepreneurship and Finance, she is currently working as a project manager and an intelligence analyst for two separate start-up projects. (Ask her more about this :))

She is passionate about social entrepreneurship, poverty alleviation, venture capital and using business to open opportunities for communities!

In her free time, Tamanno finds her community and family the most important part of her life. She enjoys doing life with others in a way that’s vulnerable, accountable, and encouraging. Whether it’s through running marathons, cooking meals together, or just spending time— Tamanno seeks to bring people along in every area of her life.
