It's time to stop celebrating kale as a superfood .
Here are five symptoms of kale poisoning:
1. Slow thyroid function: Kale contains goitrogenic compounds, which can impair the function of your thyroid in large amounts.
2. Kidney stones: Oxalates found in raw kale can increase your risk of kidney stones.
3. Fatigue and skin issues: A 2006 peer-reviewed article confirmed that kale is exceptionally good at taking up thallium, a heavy metal, from the soil. Chronic thallium exposure can cause a wide range of symptoms, from extreme fatigue to hair loss to random rashes.
4. You’re always bloated: Kale is quite difficult to digest and can cause gas and bloating in large amounts.
5. Fear of being dangerous: Kale makes you weak. If you’re not feeling good enough to be able to do something dangerous, you’re living in a state of fear.
Here’s what to eat instead: arugula, steamed broccoli, Brussels sprouts, or cauliflower!
