Do you want to sound more natural in English?

Do you want to improve your ACADEMIC WRITING?

Then HERE YOU GO

Name: English Collocations In Use(Intermediate, Advanced)
Cambridge University Press
2nd Edition

Authors: Michael McCarthy, Felicity O"Dell

Why this Book?

Personally, I use this book.
This book presents and practises hundreds of collocations in typical contexts and is ideal for intermediate level students and above who want to take their English to the next level.

A good knowledge of collocations (typical word combinations) is essential for fluent and natural-sounding English. Using collocations will improve your style of written and spoken English, and knowledge of collocations is often tested in examinations such as Cambridge FCE, CAE, CPE and IELTS. Learning correct word combinations will also help you avoid common learner errors. English Collocations in Use presents and practises hundreds of collocations in typical contexts. It is ideal for students at good intermediate level and above.

Do you know?

Crazy Mad Stupid

Crazy and mad mean ‘not sensible or practical; a bit stupid'.

Both words can describe a person or an action or idea, but the meaning is not always negative.

They can describe someone who is a bit out of control but just wants to enjoy life.

Stupid is always negative(not polite).

In uzbek: Crazy — aqldan ozgan
Mad — Telba
Stupid — Ahmoq

Do you know?

The suffix -ish is used with some adjectives to mean ‘quite’.

Ingliz tilida Sifatlarga qo'shiladigan "-ish" qo'shimchasi o'zbekchasiga "-roq" degan ma'nolarda keladi.

P.S O'zbek tilidagiga ham o'xshaydi masalan: qizg'ish, ko'kish va h.k.

A roundish face is a face which is quite round.

He is tallish, with faur hair and glasses.

Also: nearish, youngish, fattish, etc.

2021-10-26 16:52:49 You guys have probably heard of Ms Aania at Cambridge Learning Center, an IELTS teacher with a band 9.0. Turns out, she's not an "IELTS teacher" per se.

So I've watched her one hour-long Masterclass named "How to score 9.0 in IELTS?" – and guess what – I got zero insights into getting a 9.0. If you haven't watched the video, please don't; save yourself a precious hour.

While nobody questions her knowledge of English, she's simply not fit to teach IELTS to "an average Uzbek test taker". (In fact, I wonder if she has any experience teaching to begin with.) Ms Aania actually says this point-blank: "I studied IELTS for about 8 days".

With respect, unless you're a native speaker like Aania, it's going to take months to get a good prep for this exam. In all likelihood, this teacher never read a book on IELTS in her life, nor does she need to, hence why she kept saying "YouTube videos say this, YouTube videos say that".

Anyway, my point is, if you really want some isnights into IELTS preparation and the exam itself, then my go-to Instructor is Begzod aka, the founder of IELTS Zone. His journey to a robust 8.5 is relatable and can be replicated.

That's not to say Ms Aania has nothing to give us. I personally would love to have my essays checked by her, have conversations with her, and learn a bunch of other things from her.

The next video connected with IELTS is going to be an interview at Everest with Begzod aka. I couldn't hear them properly a few days ago, but now I got my earphones. I'll also leave a voice message in the comments section.

Can't agree more
