You guys have probably heard of Ms Aania at Cambridge Learning Center, an IELTS teacher with a band 9.0. Turns out, she's not an "IELTS teacher" per se.
So I've watched her one hour-long Masterclass named "How to score 9.0 in IELTS?" – and guess what –
I got zero insights into getting a 9.0. If you haven't watched the video, please don't; save yourself a precious hour.
While nobody questions her knowledge of English, she's simply not fit to teach IELTS to "an average Uzbek test taker". (
In fact, I wonder if she has any experience teaching to begin with.) Ms Aania actually says this point-blank: "
I studied IELTS for about 8 days".
With respect, unless you're a native speaker like Aania, it's going to take months to get a good prep for this exam. In all likelihood, this teacher never read a book on IELTS in her life, nor does she need to, hence why
she kept saying "YouTube videos say this, YouTube videos say that".Anyway, my point is, if you really want some isnights into IELTS preparation and the exam itself, then my go-to Instructor is Begzod aka, the founder of IELTS Zone. His journey to a robust 8.5 is relatable and can be replicated.
That's not to say Ms Aania has nothing to give us. I personally would love to have my essays checked by her, have conversations with her, and learn a bunch of other things from her.
The next video connected with IELTS is going to be an interview at Everest with Begzod aka. I couldn't hear them properly a few days ago, but now I got my earphones. I'll also leave a voice message in the comments section.
Can't agree more
