BlackRock’s spot bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF), which trades under the ticker IBIT on Nasdaq, fell out of favor on Wednesday, preliminary data published by Farside Investors showed. For the first time since going live on January 11, the fund did not draw any investor money, snapping a 71-day inflows streak. Seven out of the other ten funds followed IBIT’s lead.

Bitcoin (BTC) hit a new all-time high weeks before the 2024 halving in an unprecedented surge. Hougan believes this trend will continue post-halving and cause Bitcoin’s price to escalate dramatically, as it has in the past since its $13 valuation at the time of its first halving in 2012.

Bloomberg Senior ETF Analyst Eric Balchunas is convinced BlackRock is thrilled with the success of its spot bitcoin ETF, ticker IBIT, and backed up his assertion with some compelling data. "I know they're gaga over this IBIT, I mean this ETF IBIT is 24% of all of their flows out of 1,000 ETFs globally," Balchunas said Wednesday during a online panel discussion about Hong Kong's recently approved spot crypto ETFs. "You know that's getting the attention of even Larry Fink."

ViaBTC, the world’s third-largest mining pool, is initiating an auction for the “epic sat” it uncovered during Bitcoin’s fourth halving event on April 20. “Epic sat” refers to the initial satoshi generated following each halving event, occurring approximately every four years after 210,000 blocks. With just 32 epic sats expected to exist, these units carry exceptional significance within the Bitcoin network. According to the auction page, the highest bid for the asset is 2 BTC, approximately $132,000, as of press time.

BlackRock's spot bitcoin ETF continued its hot streak on Monday, adding inflows for the 70th straight day. That put the financial giant's ETF in the top 10 of exchange-traded funds with the longest daily streaks of inflows. Bloomberg senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas posted a graphic to X demonstrating that if BlackRock's fund, ticker IBIT, succeeded in registering a 70th consecutive day of net inflows it would rank the exchange-traded fund among some of the most successful in history.

Bitcoin advocates in Switzerland have initiated a campaign to trigger a National Referendum urging the Swiss National Bank (SNB) to include the flagship digital asset in its asset reserves. The campaign is spearheaded by Yves Bennaïm, the founder and chairman of 2B4CH, a nonprofit think tank, and enjoys support from Luzius Meisser, the chairman of asset manager Bitcoin Suisse.
