New England is dying. By 2020 all six States making up the region had low TFR (sub 1.5) with Massachusetts at 1.36, Connecticut at 1.46, New Hampshire at 1.41, Rhode Island 1.38, Maine at 1.46, & Vermont 1.32.
Several States in New England have desperately tried to attract newcomers from other States with telework incentives and other schemes. Regardless Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire & Connecticut are all likely to see a continued fall in their populations in the 2020s & beyond.
