Statement by the official representative of the DPR People’s Militia on the situation on May 5, 2022
Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has fired more than 100 shells and mines from 122-mm multiple launch rocket systems BM-21 "Grad",122-mm cannon artillery, as well as 82 and 120-mm mortars.
The areas of 7 settlements of the Republic were under shelling. As a result of the Ukrainian aggression 3 civilians were killed and 1 was injured. 4 residential buildings and 1 civilian infrastructure facility were damaged.
Materials on the fact of wounding civilians and damage to infrastructure will be transferred to the DPR General Prosecutor's Office for inclusion in criminal cases initiated against the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The servicemen of the Donetsk People's Republic, together with the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, continue to liberate the settlements of our Republic from Ukrainian invaders. Since the beginning of the day, our servicemen have destroyed 32 Ukrainian nationalists, 4 120-mm mortars, 2 infantry fighting vehicles and 2 cargo vehicles with ammunition. 2 122-mm D-30 howitzers, 2 armored and 1 cargo vehicles were captured.
Unfortunately, there were losses among our fighters. Over the past day, in the struggle for independence, 1 defender of the Donetsk People's Republic died in the line of military duty and 9 comrades were injured.
We express our sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims.
I would like to give special attention to defenders of the Donetsk People's Republic, whose courage and bravery in a fight against Ukrainian nationalists will become an example for future generations.
On March 2, 2022, during the liberation of Mariupol from Ukrainian nationalists, the assault group under the command of foreman Nesterenko Artem confronted an enemy tank unit that attempted a counteroffensive. Having made a courageous decision, foreman Nesterenko started the battle with superior enemy forces. Taking advantageous firing positions thanks to coordinated actions and clear leadership, the group managed to stop the enemy. It made possible our troops to regroup and strike at the advancing nationalist forces, disrupting the counteroffensive and forcing the enemy to retreat. During the battle, the division of foreman Nesterenko destroyed 2 tanks, 1 vehicle and up to 12 servicemen of the Azov nationalist group.
