Topic: CRIME

1. Forensic – related to scientific methods of solving crimes. E.g. The forensic evidence shows that he was stabbed with a blunt knife twice.

2. Spot – to see or notice something because you look at it hard. E.g. The teacher spotted several lexical errors in his report.

3. Fraud – someone or something that claims to be someone or something that they are not. E.g. Fraud has become so popular on social media that most people are falling victims to those who deceives them and get their money.

4. Resolve – to solve or end a problem or difficulty. E.g. We all hope that the government will one day resolve unemployment.

5. Tamper – to touch or make changes to something which you should not. E.g. Smith tampered with the will his father made in order to gain more of the inheritance.

6. Bolster – to support or improve something or make it stronger. E.g. The company needs to work hard to bolster their reputation.

7. Gelatin – a clear substance, often sold in the form of powder, made from animal bones and used especially to make jelly.

8. Overlap – to cover something partly by going over its edge; to cover part of the same space. E.g. The bricks overlap each other in a way that makes the building unique of its type.

9. Peel – if a layer or covering peels, it slowly comes off, and if you peel a layer or covering, you remove it slowly and carefully. E.g. We peeled the wallpaper off the walls. / The posters were peeling away from the damp walls.

10. Forge – to make an illegal copy of something in order to deceive. E.g. They forged passports to cross the border. Fortunately, it was spotted on time and they were arrested.
