“For this test shoot, the main focus was colour & bringing an element of fun & youthfulness to the shoot. In a world where everything seems particularly dismal & overwhelming, we wanted the shoot to be a mood booster in some way, something great that comes from friends collaborating.

the styling was sourced by Aurie from local fashion graduates, vintages stores & her own personal collection. She was inspired by bringing the mismatched textures together to create an unexpected story of hard & soft, strong lines & smooth edges, form & movement. Beth’s posing exaggerates the quirky silhouettes of the pieces teamed with the use of the fisheye lens to further distort the human form.

Xeneb was inspired by the colour & texture in Aurie styling rack, with Bjork’s 1993 “big time sensuality” clip at the back of her mind as an inspiration. She wanted to accentuate Beth’s strong gorgeous brows & have her face shape at the forefront, hence makeup focusing on silky skin & high gloss lip with a pop of coloured mascara, but no extra colours so it would stay looking fresh & contemporary.

As for the creative direction of the photography, I wanted to play with the shapes of the clothes & create obscure angles keeping the background clean to not distract from the clothing. I wanted to capture fun goofy expressions & exaggerate the length of the limbs using my fisheye lens.”
