"There are significant mental health issues. When one’s reality widely differs from deeply held core values, the result is MORAL INJURY. The butchered Afghanistan withdrawal is causing many veterans, active military, and families of living/deceased military to more readily question “What was the purpose? Did my son/friend/etc die for nothing? Did I lose my leg, or my future, for nothing?” You get the picture. Hence, a much higher incidence of moral injury will result around the tragic Afghanistan scenario that will get worse and worse in the coming weeks. And… given the parallel with the graphic Vietnam bungled evacuation, many Vietnam Veterans will be triggered by today’s news… as well as many that will harbor third party offense on their behalf. Not a pretty picture. We must PRAY for the many who will be tipped toward suicide. "Father, stay their hand today. Help them know their identity is in you."
