let's get deeper in the topic of recommendation letters
how many recommendation letters are required while applying?
It obviously varies from college to college so it's [probably] better to prepare what's more common in colleges that you will apply to.
most of those colleges - let's assume they are top ones - require one recommendation letter from School Counselor and two recommendation letters from teachers. now you may be wondering which teacher you better get the letter from. from what I read, I can say that most people [college admissions experts and admissions officers] say that it's better if teachers are from two different fields: one, for example, math/physics teacher and another from history (again, this is just an example).
besides, you should make sure that your rec letter writers know you well and are capable enough of expressing their thoughts clearly in a written format (it's common for teachers to know their subjects well but not be competent writers)
