2021-12-15 21:30:27 Photoshop alternatives?

Has anyone considered using Pixelmator Pro or Affinity Photo instead of Photoshop? If so, do you use it for both work and personal projects?

I'm wondering if I should invest in Pixelmator, I quite like the simplistic interface and the smoother experience compared to the Adobe bloat.

Thanks

2021-12-15 18:30:43 StopTheMadness, Hush or Hyperweb for Safari?

Hello,

I was wondering if the following Safari extensions can be used alongside one another, or are they essentially doing the same thing?

StopTheMadness, Hush, Hyperweb.

I read their description but I am uncertain whether they can be used alongside each other or one or two of them is enough . They seem to do sorta the same things, overlapping each other, yet there are functionalities listed in one that are absent in the other.

Also, even if they do roughly the same things, is there one that is preferred among the three?

I have seen recommended all of them on different sites, yet no concrete advice on which covers the most or does the best work.

I know there is a subreddit dedicated specifically for Safari, but I wanted to ask here as well, since it has more members and hopefully some of you already have experience with some of these extensions.

Thanks for any feedback.

2021-12-15 14:30:41 Ninox or other database recommendations

I'm a very light database user. Back in the day Bento was fine. I'm using TapForms but find it a bit, I dunno, clunky to make look good.

I use a database to keep appointments and billing details for that work. Plus others for equipment assets. I don't list all my DVDs which is where TapForms is coming from...

So Ninox? Looks complex but simple. Seems reasonably priced for a single user. Syncs across iCloud to iPad/iPhone.

What's not to like?

2021-12-15 13:30:40 Is anyone here using Taskheat?

It looks like Things is the app of choice for most people here. And although I like the look and feel, I cannot justify it's price for that atm. At the moment I'm trailing 2do and I like it a lot. But for 50$ I most likely will give it a pass next week.

Now I came across Taskheat https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id1431995750 and it looks quite nifty for $10 and cross-devices included.

If you're using this I'd like to hear your opinion.

2021-12-14 19:30:33 The most light on resource native M1 Web App Software like Franz

I gathered a list here of all apps that allows us to run message clients and social apps in tabs. There are not many native Silicone ones and they all seem to be missing something but Singlebox being lightest of them.

Singlebox (so far best and easiest on resources)

Rambox (resource hog)

Wavebox

Hamsket (same as rambox so probably a resource hog)

Basaas

Shift

Station

Franz (Rosetta meaning will eat battery)

Ferdi

webcatalog

bisquit (tested and was cought up idling eating up resources so uninstalled)

We need more apps to be developed running SwiftUI and not Electron based.

Does anyone know of any SwiftUI coded one that can run web apps being more friendly than above?

Does anyone know of any that can run in portable mode with saving all data in same folder it is ran from and not cluttered around?

2021-12-14 14:30:40 Limited Menu Bar Space --solution needed!

Hello,

I need an app that can "expand" the menu bar somehow, for example by showing a separate drawer beneath it. The issue is that the new Macs with the notch has so little space for menu bar items and once apps icons reach the notch area they stop showing.

I've heard of Bartender but my issue with it is that it requires screen recording permissions which I'm not fully comfortable with, considering it's not an open source app so I need to trust the developers that they absolutely need those permissions and they won't use it for other purposes.

Are there any alternative? Looking forward for any suggestions,

Thanks!
