GIFT NIFTY opened 8 points lower at 22,685 signalling that the Indian stock market is headed for a negative start today.

Stocks worldwide went up and Treasury yields went down on Friday after a U.S. jobs report showed slower growth than anticipated. This eased worries about the Federal Reserve keeping interest rates high for longer. Nonfarm payrolls increased by 175,000, the lowest since October 2023, missing economists' forecast of 243,000 in a Reuters poll.

The volatility index - India VIX increased by 8.72% to the levels of 14.62 indicating increased volatility in the market.
