ALwys read the CT by starting with Plain or Contrast enhanced CT , Axial image of the Brain at the level of lateral ventricles,Explain bony abnormality, parenchymal abnormality as hypodensity or hyperdensity ( bleed or infarct), Symmetry,grey white diifferntiation which is affected in the image given and any shift. Here ventricles are also narrowed because of Edema.
Basliar artery thrombosis is visualized as hyerdense basilar artey sign,not seen here
Cerebral Venous sinus thrombosis findings
cord sign
dense vein sign
cerebral oedema: secondary to venous hypertension
cortical/cerebral swelling
unilateral or bilateral venous haemorrhage
With contrast administration, especially with a CT venogram, a filling defect in the sinus is sought. M
When in the superior sagittal sinus it is referred to as the empty delta sign.
Signs of contrast CT include:
empty delta sign (is specific to the superior sagittal sinus)
gyral enhancement
prominent intramedullary veins
