UAE Suspends Indian Wheat Exports For 4 Months

United Arab Emirate authorities have suspended all exports and re-exports of Indian wheat and wheat flour according to state media on Wednesday.

The UAE economy ministry cited disrupted global trade flows for the move, although admitted imports for domestic consumption had been approved. Entities wishing to re-export Indian wheat that arrived before New Delhi’s ban on May 14 must apply for government permission.

The two countries signed a trade agreement in February that aimed to cut tariffs and boost mutual trade to $100bn within 5 years.
