It’s not just huge arms corporations that are churning out profits at breakneck speed, but smaller gun makers are making their mark on the US gun market that tripled between 2000-2020.

In 2021 alone the gun market pumped some $70bn into the American economy - the culmination of a 694% rise in “type 7” permits that allow production and sales.

One manufacturer defended the spurt of gun crime to Yahoo News: "People are the problem. Obviously I don't want my guns being used in that way, but there's nothing I can do to prevent it at that point."
