2022-08-03 11:00:18 Muharram - The Great Month

Muharram is a great and blessed month, the first in the Hijri year and one of the four sacred months in the Islamic calendar. It was named as Allah's month by the Prophet [PBUH] which shows its importance and significance.
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be please with him) said: The Messenger of Allah [PBUH] said: "The best fast after Ramadhan is in Allah's month, Muharram." {Muslim}

Whilst fasting is immensely rewarding throughout Muharram, it is especially so on 'Aashoorah, the tenth day of month. We learn of its significance from the hadith of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) observed Saum (fasting) on the day of 'Ashurah and commanded us to fast on this day. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Benefit of fasting this day – Forgiveness for the past year’s sins:
The prophet Muhammad [PBUH] was asked about fasting the day of 'Ashurah , he replied: “It expiates (the sins of) the past year”{Muslim}

Some key dates to be aware of:

10th Muharram - Monday 8th August 2022 (Fast this day)
9th/11th Muharram - Sunday 7th/Tuesday 9th August (Fast both of these days or at least one of the two) Open / Comment

Asalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,

An opportunity for the mothers & fathers in our community to meet up and socialise. Our deen teaches us to respect and honour our elders. We would like this to be a step in the right direction, steering our community to serve and support everyone and teaching our children through example, not just words, how to honour our elders.

The Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Whoever does not respect our elders and shows no mercy to our young, then he is not from us."

Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

Girls Youth Summer Residential Camp 2022

Strictly for ages: 11-16 years only

When: Fri 12th August 4pm to
Sun 14th August 4:30pm

Location: Frylands Wood Scout Outdoor Centre
Featherbed Lane, Croydon, CR0 9AA

Theme of camp: The 4 Best Women in Islam

We will have team building sessions, Islamic reminders, presentations, and lots of fun outdoor activities!

Cost: £40

(This covers accommodation and activities only. The food and other expenses will be covered by the masjid)
