2021-08-16 16:09:18 On the authority of Zaynab b. Jaḥsh that the Messenger of Allah - ﷺ – entered upon her one day in a state of alarm saying: “There is no deity worthy of worship other than Allah, woe to the Arabs from an evil that has approached. Today, a breach has opened up in the barricade of Yāʿjūj and and Māʿjūj of this size” and he made a circle with his thumb and index finger.
وَعَن زينبَ بنتِ جحشٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دخل يَوْمًا فَزِعًا يَقُولُ: «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَيلٌ للعربِ مِنْ شَرٍّ قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ فُتِحَ الْيَوْمَ مِنْ رَدْمِ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مِثْلُ هَذِهِ» وَحَلَّقَ بِأُصْبَعَيْهِ: الْإِبْهَامَ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا.

Zaynab said: I said: “O Messenger of Allah, are we going to be destroyed while there are ṣāliḥūn (ie: righteous people) among us?”
قَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ: فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَفَنُهْلَكُ وَفِينَا الصَّالِحُونَ؟

He said: “Yes, if there is a lot of Khabath.”
قَالَ: «نَعَمْ إِذا كثُرَ الخَبَثُ».

2021-08-12 16:32:12 Naṣr b. Maḥmūd al Balkhī reported that Aḥmad b. Ḥarb stated:
قَالَ نَصْرُ بنُ مَحْمُوْدٍ البَلْخِيُّ: قَالَ أَحْمَدُ بنُ حَرْبٍ:

“I worshipped Allah for fifty years, and I was not able to find the sweetness of worship until I forsook three things:
عَبَدْتُ اللهَ خَمْسِيْنَ سَنَةً، فَمَا وَجَدْتُ حَلاَوَةَ العِبَادَةِ حَتَّى تَرَكْتُ ثَلاَثَةَ أَشيَاءٍ:

I forsook seeking the acceptance of al-nās (ie: the people), so I was able to speak al-haq (ie: the truth).
تَرَكْتُ رِضَى النَّاسِ حَتَّى قَدِرْتُ أَنْ أَتَكَلَّمَ بِالحَقِّ،

I forsook the companionship of the sinner, so I was able to accompany al-ṣāliḥīn (ie: the righteous).
وَتَرَكْتُ صُحْبَةَ الفَاسِقِيْنَ حَتَّى وَجَدْتُ صُحْبَةَ الصَّالِحِيْنَ،

I forsook the sweetness of al-dunyā (ie: the life of this world), so I was able to find the sweetness of al-ākhirah (ie: the afterlife)."
وَتَرَكْتُ حَلاَوَةَ الدُّنْيَا حَتَّى وَجَدْتُ حَلاَوَةَ الآخِرَةِ.

2021-08-08 17:13:54 Shubrumah said: “We accompanied Karz al-Ḥārithi on a journey. Whenever he wanted to set camp in an area, he used to scan it with his eyes and when he found a good piece of land that he liked, he would go to it and pray there until it was time to leave.”

عن شبرمة قال: صحبنا كرزاً الحارثي فكنا إذا نزلنا إلى الأرض فإنما هو قائل ببصره هكذا، ينظر، فإذا رأى بقعة تعجبه ذهب فصلى فيها حتى يرتحل.

2021-08-04 18:34:00 On the authority of Zahrah b. Maʿbad who narrated on the authority of his grandfather ʿAbd Allah b. Hishām: He met the Prophet - ﷺ - when his mother, Zaynab b. Ḥamīd, took him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
زهرة بن معبد - رحمه الله - عن جدِّه عبد الله بن هشام - وكان وقد أدرك النبيَّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم- وَذَهَبتْ به أمُّه زينبُ بنت حُميْد إلى رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم-،

She said: “Allow him to pledge allegiance to you.”
فقالت: بايعْهُ،

He said: “He is young.’ So he rubbed his head and supplicated for blessings for him.”
فقال: هو صَغير، فمسح رأْسَه، ودعا له بالبركة.

It was also narrated by Zahrah that his grandfather ʿAbd Allah b. Hishām used to take him out to the market to buy food, Ibn ʿUmar and Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to meet him and say: “Allow us to be partners with you, for indeed the Prophet ﷺ supplicated for blessings for you.”
وعن زهرة «أنه كان يخرج به جدُّه عبد الله بن هشام إلى السُّوق، فيشتري الطعام، فيلقاه ابنُ عمر وابنُ الزبير، فيقولان له: أشركنا فإن النبيَّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم- قد دعا لك بالبركة،

So he would become a partner with them and sometimes he would buy a whole caravan and gain its full potential in profit and send it home.
فيُشْرِكُهم، فربما أصاب الرَّاحِلةَ كما هي فيَبعثُ بها إلى المنزل».

2021-08-02 06:18:17 Qatādah reported: Ḥaram b. Ḥayān used to say: “Never does the servant turn wholeheartedly to Allah except that Allah turns the hearts of the believers to him, providing him their love.”

قَالَ قَتَادَةُ: كَانَ هَرِمُ بنُ حَيَّانَ يَقُوْلُ: مَا أَقْبَلَ عَبْدٌ بِقَلْبِهِ إِلَى اللهِ، إِلاَّ أَقْبَلَ اللهُ بِقُلُوْبِ المُؤْمِنِيْنَ إِلَيْهِ، حَتَّى يَرْزُقَهُ وُدَّهُم.

2021-07-29 21:19:35 And I heard him (ie: Ibn Hubairah) say: “From the plots of al-Shayṭān is that he repels the ʿibād (ie: servants) of Allah from reflecting on the Qurʾān, because he knows that guidance occurs with reflection.”

قال: وسمعته يقول: من مكايد الشيطان: تنفيره عباد الله من تدبر القرآن لعله أن الهدى واقع عند التدبر

2021-07-27 08:01:25 Abū Ṣāliḥ reported: When ahl al-Yamān (ie: the people of Yemen) came in the time of Abū Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and heard the Qurʾān, they began to cry.
أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، قَالَ: " لَمَّا قَدِمَ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ فِي زَمَانِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، فَسَمِعُوا الْقُرْآنَ جَعَلُوا يَبْكُونَ،

So Abū Bakr said: “This is how we were, then the hearts hardened.”
فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: «هَكَذَا كُنَّا، ثُمَّ قَسَتِ الْقُلُوبُ»
