On the authority of Zahrah b. Maʿbad who narrated on the authority of his grandfather ʿAbd Allah b. Hishām: He met the Prophet - ﷺ - when his mother, Zaynab b. Ḥamīd, took him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.
She said: “Allow him to pledge allegiance to you.”
He said: “He is young.’ So he rubbed his head and supplicated for blessings for him.”
It was also narrated by Zahrah that his grandfather ʿAbd Allah b. Hishām used to take him out to the market to buy food, Ibn ʿUmar and Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to meet him and say: “Allow us to be partners with you, for indeed the Prophet ﷺ supplicated for blessings for you.”
So he would become a partner with them and sometimes he would buy a whole caravan and gain its full potential in profit and send it home.
