This particular Zero fighter (Serial Number 3869) was found in 1990 at Babo Airfield in Indonesia, which was damaged by american bombs during the Allied bombing campaigns of 1943-1944. It was immediately brought to the U.S. for restoration, but due to the amount of work in 1994 the plane was transferred to Russia for completion. Parts used on the SN-3869 were both original and new material, in order to ensure safety while flying it, and the aircraft has been fitted with a Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp power plant.
