USA: More Kids Shot Dead in Schools Than Cops in Line of Duty in 2022
After the horrific mass shooting at a Texas elementary school claimed 19 pupils’ lives, more children have been shot dead in schools in the US than police in the line of duty this year.
Education Week data tallies 24 total child deaths due to gun violence so far in 2022, while Officer Down data shows 20 officers have lost their lives to gunfire. 2022 has seen more mass shootings (212) in the US than days elapsed (146).
Despite President Biden asking, “When in God's name are we going to do what we know in our gut needs to be done?” - the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll shows only 35% of Americans were confident Congress will adopt stricter laws.
