How can students inspire their teachers?

Yes, you read it right. How can students inspire their teachers - not the other way round. It's somehow been accepted as the universal truth that it's the teacher who must inspire. The teacher must stand on their head and jump with a tambourine to keep the students motivated, engaged, entertained, productive, et cetera. (The webinars on how to are as abundant as they are successful).

So, when we get a student who doesn't do their homework, who doesn't have any ideas, who doesn't find any texts interesting (but doesn't respond to the request to bring their own texts either) et cetera, we are supposed to make it our life’s mission to find fancy ways to cram knowledge, ideas, and interest into that student. Or, if this doesn’t work, to simply grin and bear it.

What the hell? I'm not inspired! Why do students want to work with inspiring teachers, yet teachers are supposed to want to work with everyone?

You might say any student, even the most bored or disrespectful one, is a paying client. Well, all students are paying clients. But some bring money only, while others bring the same amount of money + satisfaction and results. Given I get so much more from the latter category, why would I want to work with the former? I want to be inspired too.

It takes two to tango. Do you want a dynamic, inspiring, passionate teacher? Be that person too!
