DHS Maintains Secret Domestic Intelligence Program
The Department of Homeland Security secretly maintains a domestic intelligence program that allows agency officials to interview willing Americans without their lawyers present.
The program is called “Overt Human Intelligence Collection Program."
The fact that the agency is allowed to go directly to incarcerated people — circumventing their lawyers — raises important civil liberties concerns.
According to the report, an unnamed employee in the trove of documents allegedly said that the program’s office “is ‘shady’ and ‘runs like a corrupt government.’”
