The protesters reportedly climbed over a fence to enter the site before being thrown to the ground by police and detained.

Bitcoin continued its revival as it shot up 1.6% to over $62k on Monday morning for the first time since April, according to data from Binance.

This latest rise puts it only 4.5% below the all-time high of $64,850 having pushed close to $63k on Sunday. This month alone, Bitcoin has gained nearly 42% after a poor September saw it drop 7%.

Joe and Jill Biden were recorded strolling through an upmarket Italian restaurant in Washington DC over the weekend, with the president holding his face covering in his hands.

Under the DC mandate, a mask must be worn during indoor dining at all times, unless eating or drinking. The Bidens appear to be doing neither in Fiola Mare in Georgetown, with everyone else in shot abiding by the rule.

2021-10-18 11:28:03 HUGE FIRE at Kuwait's Mina al-Ahmadi oil refinery injures several workers but output continues

The Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has said the blaze is isolated,and a small number of contractors suffered minor injuries.

A deputy chief exec. for KNPC told state TV the unit should return to full operation in the coming hours.

"The refinery operations and export operations were not affected and there has been no impact to local marketing operations and supplies to the electricity and water ministry," KNPC added on its Twitter account.

Last month, KNPC said it started full operation to expand refining capacity and produce lower-emission fuel. The Mina al-Ahmadi refinery is expected to produce 346,000 barrels per day. (Reuters)

China's economy grew 4.9% from July to September, significantly its lowest quarter this year (from 9.8%) and way below expert predictions. Crises on multiple fronts are taking their toll with power shortages and the Evergrande property group on the brink of default.

The world's second-largest economy has faced a number of challenges, with soaring commodity prices and a power-supply crunch, as Beijing rethinks carbon emission policies.

Coal prices have hit recent highs too, compounded by flash flooding in China's 'rust belt' Shanxi province. Rationing of electricity has led to blackouts impacting factories and homes.

China's central bank has played down the risk of contagion, but restrictions on huge industries like gaming and Big Tech have analysts saying the next quarter could see its economic growth weaken further.
