1. What are the new RBI guidelines on cards?

As per the new RBI guidelines, from 1st Jan 2022 onwards, only card networks (VISA/Mastercard etc.) and/or issuing banks can store credit/debit card details. Merchants such as Amazon will no longer store card details. However, customers can provide their explicit consent to save the cards as per new guidelines.

2. How does this impact me?

With the new guidelines, you will not be able to see your previously saved credit/debit cards while making a payment. This means from 1st January 2022 you will be required to enter the complete card details such as card number, expiry date and CVV for every payment unless you choose to save your cards as per the new RBI guidelines.

3. What if I have a card which is not Mastercard or Visa?

Cards associated with other networks such as American Express, Diners, RuPay, etc. on Amazon soon. Until then, you will need to enter your card details every time you make a payment after 1st January 2022. To avoid this hassle, you can also sign-up for Amazon Pay UPI or Amazon Pay Later to continue enjoying quick and convenient payments with exciting offers.
