It gets dirtier than this if you know the history of technology. Did you know that IBM sold its most powerful data processing technology to Nazi Germany during World War II?

The areas where Hitler deployed IBM’s technology had an exceptionally high rate of killing Jewish people.

This is not to pick on IBM; I once sat on their highest level advisory board and got to know many of the executives. They are good people.

The problem is that companies are not people and you cannot throw a company in jail (or torture it). Even good people make lots of small decisions that can add up to great evil.

It is happening now in the United States, and the people who run the big tech companies involved in this should know better.
