A lot of people are asking what I do to stay healthy when I travel. Keeping bad stuff from being able to take root in your sinuses is the first step no one talks about.
One of the most effective preventatives is a saline iodine rinse after possible exposure. That sterilizes sinuses and reduces bacterial and viral infections dramatically. The entire protocol is here: https://daveasprey.com/chronic-sinus-problems/
But that’s not always accessible, so there’s something you can do multiple times a day that is easier and nearly as effective.
But a bottle of Xlear Nasal Spray (contains saline and xylitol, which stops bacteria from sticking), and a dropper bottle of 5% Lugol’s Iodine. Add 2-3 drops of Lugol's Iodine to the bottle of Xlear. Spray in each nostril a couple of times whenever you have been in a crowd. During and after flying, shopping, parties, etc.
(Obviously, don’t do this if you are sensitive to any ingredients, and check with your doctor. This is hygiene advice, not medical advice!)
After using this for 15 years, I know it works for any kind of sinus or mucosal microbial issues. Before I figured it out, I had chronic sinusitis the 15 years before that and was days away from sinus surgery.
You can follow up with nanosilver gel inside the entrance to your nostrils for extra protection. (I don’t, but it also works.)
I believe this protocol is far more important than laughably ineffective hand sanitizer, which has become the holy water of the pandemic. Sinus hygiene is a good practice, no matter what may be in the air.
It’s kind of sad that I could not post this on Instagram or Facebook.
