You cannot win a war by such desperate measures, especially not if there is already a large & growing gap between Ukrainian & Russian industry;

This idea of distributed manufacturing shouldn't be dismissed though, it has been used in the past, including in the UK during WW2 - but it wouldn't have helped the UK win if its allies (US-Soviet Union) didn't already have the massive advantage in industrial output they did;

Instead of (or in addition to) networking ordinary people, universities, vocational schools, & industry with extra capacity could be used to boost output of key items;

As manufacturing technology advances, (3D printing, CNC milling/laser cutting), distributed manufacturing becomes increasingly viable for a wide range of applications;

If Ukraine has any success, Russia could simply do it too, but with a population many times larger than Ukraine;

This is the kind of injustice, repeated every day, worldwide that compelled Gonzalo himself to speak up, which compels me and many others to speak up, and will continue compelling us to do so.

US-Chilean citizen Gonzalo Lira is confirmed dead by the US State Department, having died in a Ukrainian prison with serious health issues neglected by his jailers. He was imprisoned for criticizing Kiev;

Russia continues using a strategy of attrition across the line of contact, particularly in places like Avdeevka where Ukrainian positions are steadily degraded;

Russian forces continue carrying out large-scale drone and missile strikes on targets across Ukraine;

Ukraine admits a growing crisis in terms of air defense capabilities with its Western sponsors unable to supply an adequate number of interceptors for launchers transferred to Ukraine;

Russia is continuing to expand production of existing drones and missiles while also developing new drones and missiles with greater capabilities, further stressing Ukraine’s already stretched combat capabilities;

Previous dismissal of Russian-Iranian defense cooperation has now led to a demonstrable strategic crisis for Ukraine and the collective West;

Ukrainian commanders are requesting what amounts to an entire army’s worth of equipment including an entire air force worth of replacement aircraft;

2024-01-12 22:52:27 Gonzalo Lira reported dead in Ukrainian prison from prolonged, untreated illness.

Those in the West who smeared him, or cast doubt on his story and encouraged people to ignore his plight are as complicit in his death as the Ukrainian administration who wrongfully imprisoned him and Ukraine's Western sponsors who knew he was wrongfully imprisoned and did nothing to release him including the US of which he was a citizen.

This isn't "infotainment." This is real. Standing up to the worst people on Earth has consequences.

It was Gonzalo Lira today, it can be any one of us tomorrow.

Thoughts and prayers to Gonzalo's family, including his young children who will grow up now, knowing Gonzalo only by watching him in videos speak up couragously against the worst people on Earth. Open / Comment

The US-UK all but fought Yemen itself through Saudi Arabia - selecting targets, arming and maintaining warplanes, through the provision of ground weapons, and even through deploying special operations forces on the ground inside Yemen since 2015.

It did nothing to discourage forces inside Yemen fighting for independence. They are better armed today and more experienced than ever before.

Squandering Scarce Munitions...

A few additional air and missile strikes will make little difference. Even the prospect of a larger ground campaign will make little difference unless it is on a scale so far unseen.

Thus, the US-UK are expending critically short munitions they will need for all the other wars they are provoking around the globe, on a battle they have long since demonstrated they cannot win.

Toward a Wider Regional War (Unstated Objectives)

It is, however, a dangerous escalation regionally - stemming from the US-sponsored Israeli operation in Gaza - and specifically seeking to draw Iran, Syria, Yemen, and Lebanon into the fighting allowing the US to reassert itself in the region or at a minimum, burn the region to the ground if it cannot.

We see the futility and self-destructive nature of US foreign policy in Europe, but it hasn't stopped Washington from trying anyway, and it won't in the Middle East either.

Private Chinese space companies are growing in numbers and capabilities.

In addition to sea launches, other private Chinese companies are working on SpaceX-style reusability, and a wide range of smaller rockets/payloads to fill in gaps larger state-owned enterprises are not suitable for.
