The International Air Transport Association, IATA, urges Ethiopia to uphold efficient air connectivity during the Covid-19 crisis in the hopes of maintain a strong position to weather the crisis and seep up recovery.

Here are the tips forwarded to get a move on recovery:

• Digitalization of health certificates
• Releasing blocked funds: Approximately $59 million (as of August) in airline funds are being blocked from repatriation in Ethiopia
• Implementing the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM): Potential to create 21,000 new jobs and adding $81.8 million to the GDP.

The data shows Kenya’s export to east africa reached $1.44 Billion in 2020.

Kenya’s exports to the East African Community increased from $1.28 billion in 2019 to $1.44 billion in 2020, highlighting 64.3% of the country’s total exports to Africa.

The growth was witnessed despite a contraction of the East African Community real GDP by 0.2% in 2020, from a growth of 6.2% in 2019.

2021-09-23 12:13:44 China’s Trade with Africa Reached a Record High at $139.1 Billion

Trade between the two regions has increased by 40.5% year-on-year in the first 7 months of 2021, and was valued at a record high of $139.1 billion.

Africa’s most important suppliers of manufactured goods were listed as Europe (35 %), China (16 %) and the rest of Asia, including India (14%).

Imports from Africa into China increased by 46.3 % between January and July 2021.

2021-09-23 12:06:36 Poultry Intervention for Child Nutrition in #Ethiopia

According to a research titled ‘A Chicken Production Intervention and Additional Nutrition Behavior Change Component Increased Child Growth in Ethiopia: A cluster randomized trial’, there showed a link between poultry and child nutrition in Ethiopia.

The finding concluded that chicken production intervention, with or without nutrition-sensitive Behavioral Change Communication, may have benefited child nutrition, and didn't increase morbidity.
