About Dholavira

The City of Dholavira, located in Khadir island of the Rann of Kutchch, belonged to matured Harappan phase.

First discovered by archaeologist JP Joshi in 1956, excavations at Dholavira started only in 1990 under RS Bisht of the Archaeological Survey of India.

Dholavira was occupied from about 2650 BCE to 1450 BCE and has seven different stageswhich document the rise and fall of the Harappan Civilization.
