Can I just recite the first 10 verses of Surah al-Kahf on Fridays instead of the Whole Surah? Let’s look at some authentic ahadith to figure the answer out :)
Hadith One
“Whoever recites Surah al-Kahf on the night of Friday, will have a light that will stretch between him and the Ancient House (the Ka’bah).”
Saheeh al-Jaami 6471
Hadith Two
“Whoever recites Surah al-Kahf on the day of Friday, will have a light that will shine from him from one Friday to the next.”
Saheeh al-Jaami’, 6470
In these narrations
any specific verses from Surah al-Kahf are mentioned?
No :)
What we notice is that we can recite this Surah during the night or the day on a Friday
(The night of Friday starts from sunset on Thursday, and the day of Friday ends at sunset)
Cool!
Let’s look at the Hadith about ten verses
“Whoever memorizes
ten verses from the beginning of Surah al-Kahf will be immune to the False Messiah (i.e. Dajjal).”
In another narration, the Prophet ﷺ said,
“From the
last ten verses of Surah al-Kahf.”
Saḥīḥ Muslim 809
Does this mention Friday?
No :)
So Memorization of 10 verses of Surah al-Kahf is mentioned separately - you can memorise them any day and recite them whenever you want :)
but the recitation of the whole Surah is mentioned with its own set of amazing rewards on Fridays :)
May Allah enable us to not only memorise the first and the last ten verses of this surah but also allow us to recite the whole Surah al-Kahf on every Friday to get the Light!
