Money Mine on Oak Island

For more than two centuries, tales have circulated that there is a money mine with buried treasure on Oak Island, off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada. They were allegedly left by the pirate Captain William Kidd (1645-1701). During this time, numerous expeditions worth millions of dollars have been sent to the island in search of the lost treasure. Alas, to no avail.
Only one copper Spanish coin was found.
Nevertheless, this does not stop people from trying to find the money pit. In honor of the new expedition, the History Channel even has a show called "The Curse of Oak Island," where you can learn about all the facts and failures in the search for the treasure.

Where is Cleopatra's Tomb

Ancient authors claim that Cleopatra and her lover Mark Antony were buried together in a tomb after their death in 30 BC. The writer Plutarch (45-120 CE) wrote that the tomb was near the temple of the Egyptian goddess Isis. The tomb was a "sublime and beautiful" monument containing treasures of gold, silver, emeralds, pearls, ebony and ivory.

The location of the tomb remains a mystery. In 2010, Zahi Hawass, former Egyptian Minister of Antiquities, conducted an excavation near Alexandria. The site is now called Taposiris Magna, home to a number of tombs dating back to Cleopatra's era.

Although many interesting archaeological discoveries have been made, Cleopatra's tomb was not among them. Archaeologists note that even if Cleopatra's tomb has survived, it may have been heavily looted and no longer identifiable.

Was there a real King Arthur

The story of King Arthur has been told and retold many times over more than 1,000 years. Camelot, the Knights of the Round Table, the wizard Merlin and the sword Excalibur are all well-known components of Arthurian tales.

However, if King Arthur really existed, the reality was probably not so magical. The earliest surviving accounts date from the ninth century and tell of a leader (perhaps not even a king) who fought several battles against the Saxons. Even the accuracy of these accounts is debatable.

There are several places in Britain that legends associate with King Arthur. For example, Tintagel, a coastal site that was supposedly King Arthur's home.

Excavations have not confirmed whether Arthur lived there.

Ultimately, it seems unlikely that scholars will ever know for certain whether there was a real King Arthur or whether the man was purely fictional.

Tassilin-Adjer Park in Algeria .

Tassilin-Adjer is a national park in the Sahara Desert, located on a vast plateau in southeastern Algeria. In the many caves and cracks in the crumbling rocks is a treasure trove of ancient petroglyphs, the youngest of which is the 7th century AD, the oldest 7000 years BC.
Since its first discovery in 1910 and subsequent studies in the 1930s, scientific teams have seriously investigated the area.

What they discovered on the walls of the cave was striking and surprising; some say the images suggest that Earth was visited by alien astronauts.
Regardless of which side of the alien debate the researchers took, they agreed that the place was like no other. One thing is certain. Like many other paintings of this type around the world, these creatures are depicted as giants .

A dream for two

Is it often the case that two people have the same dream, each from their own perspective? That's exactly what happened to one couple who shared this story online. The guy dreamed that he cheated on his girlfriend - and then looked out the window and saw her standing in the street with her face distorted with grief and horror.

When he woke up, he put the strange dream out of his mind and didn't think about it for a few days-until his girlfriend told him that the same night she herself had dreamed that she had caught him cheating.

In her dream she was standing outside, looking out the window, behind which he was making love to another woman. Freud would probably say that the theme of adultery is invisibly present in this couple. What would you say?

Don Quijote Airport, Spain

Do you think 150 million euros in the wind is a lot? How about 1.1 billion? The Don Quijote airport (official name Ciudad Real Central) was built as an alternative to Madrid airport. Its opening in 2009 was widely discussed in the press.

Soon the name "Don Quijote" hit the headlines again - the first and apparently the last private airport in Spain was declared bankrupt after just three years of operation.
Now directors and cameramen love its runways. An episode of Top Gear, episodes of Pedro Almodóvar's film and a popular Volvo commercial with Van Damme were filmed here.

The Stone with the Ten Commandments

In the town of Hayden Mountain in the state of New Mexico is located a mysterious 80-ton boulder, which, supposedly, is written in Hebrew, some kind of the 10 Commandments - the code of moral laws.

Locals say the boulder has been there "forever" (meaning roughly "since 1880"), but it wasn't discovered to the scientific world until the 1990s. Some scholars believe it is a forgery (pointing out the misspelling of some words), but others believe that a people who lived in pre-Columbian times in what is now Israel/Phoenicia discovered America much earlier than Europeans and left such an unusual mark.

The Franklin Expedition

The Franklin Expedition, which began to explore an unknown part of the Northwest Passage in the 19th century, remains one of the most tragic and mysterious pages of Arctic exploration. During the expedition, two ships - the Erebus and the Terror - disappeared in the polar ice (they were discovered years later), and most of the explorers from the crew went missing.

Information later emerged about the cannibalism of the sailors. The British criticized explorer John Ray for such assumptions, but after the discovery of Franklin's human remains with cutting marks, his speculations were confirmed.
