2021-08-19 10:44:05 UK’s covid contact tracing app could have caused THOUSANDS to needlessly isolate, media reports.

Thousands of people in the UK may have isolated needlessly thanks to an error with the NHS Covid app, The Guardian reports citing a source at Whitehall.

Disgraced Health Secretary Matt Hancock is alleged to have been aware of problems with the app. before his resignation, but it wasn’t until a month later his successor Sajid Javid announced much-needed updates.

It’s reported the app. was notifying users of possible contact with an individual up to five days before the infected person even had any systems of coronavirus. The apps’. Guidelines "defined close contact as occurring two days before the infected person had symptoms.”
