A medieval fortress sitting atop a cragged mountaintop in the Julfa region. The site is actually a recent reconstruction of the former fortress used by Nakhchivan’s various ruling dynasties of the Middle Ages, including the Seljuks, Atabeys and Safavids. The castle was famed for being near impregnable, though it was eventually sacked by legendary Turko-Mongol ruler Tamerlane in 1401, albeit only after a 14-year struggle. Legend has it that Tamerlane then used the castle to house his treasury and local tales claim his treasures may still be hidden somewhere in the surrounds.

Visit the museum at the bottom to discover this rich history, then climb the 1,500 steps to the summit for the breathtaking views of Nakhchivan’s epic landscape.

Passengers whose close relatives are citizens of Azerbaijan (husband, wife, children, parents, siblings, grandparents and grandchildren), including family members of such passengers (husband, wife, parents, children) can travel to Azerbaijan!

Those are required to confirm :

• the degree of kinship on the basis of a document
• negative result of the PCR test for the COVID-19, issued within 72 hours before the flight
• for children under 1 year of age, is abolished to provide negative result of the PCR test for the COVID-19

All you need is to provide negative result of PCR test , vaccination is no needed!

One of the most popular types of Turkic dish dolma - Dolma “3 sisters”

4 green peppers
5 tomatoes
5 eggplants
1 large onion
1/2 bunch green basil
2-3 stalks coriander, dill
1 tablespoon round rice
2 tablespoons butter
3-4 tablespoons liquid butter
600 qr. beef meat
2-3 tablespoons of vegetable oil to fry eggplants
1 tomato for the stuffing
salt, black pepper, jasmine, red pepper

Steps:
- Peel vegetables
- Salt the eggplants so that they do not taste bitter and fry lightly
- Finely chop onion, reyhan and keshnish and pre-cooked beef
pour sunflower oil and put butter, add onion and then meat.
- Add tomato juice.
- Add greens and fry until tender
put the meat in vegetables and pour over tomato juice and cook over low heat.

The Rose Lubricant Production Plant “AzRose” processing plant with a total area of 107 hectares, which is located in the village of Ashagi Tala of Zagatala, so called “Rose Land” of our country!

25 hectares of the area set up with “Lavanda” flower plantations! The plant produces the essential oil and also used in cosmetics and medicine.

You can enjoy an interesting tour in this plant while visiting Zagatala, which includes data on production process and amounts , rules of picking roses in the fields , participating in grabbing flowers from the bushes, and also watching Soviet documentary film about the rose plant of Zagatala!

Lavander gathering season starts usually from mid-June till mid-August. So you can enjoy your summer holidays in Azerbaijan while also visiting Zagatala!
