FAB excluded sergeant detained at Seville airport in 2019
On Thursday (12/05), the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) definitively excluded Sergeant Manoel da Silva Rodrigues from its ranks, in the good of discipline and with the loss of his hierarchical rank, in accordance with the Military Statute.
The former military man was detained at the airport in Seville, Spain, on June 25, 2019, on charges of international drug trafficking. As soon as the Aeronautics Command became aware of the fact, a due administrative process was instituted to judge the conduct practiced, under the prism of military ethics.
Thursday's act is the result of this process, whose decision was handed down after due legal process, adversarial proceedings, and ample defense had been observed.
It must be emphasized that the time that passed until the effective expulsion of the sergeant was conditioned to the fulfillment of the due administrative procedures for summoning the soldier, who has been detained in another country since his arrest in flagrante delicto.
On February 15, 2022, the Union Military Justice had already sentenced him to 14 years and six months in prison.
The Brazilian Air Force reiterates that it acts to prevent irregularities and repudiates conduct that does not represent the values, dedication and work of its personnel in order to fulfill its institutional mission.
