Joseph Goebbels and Horst Wessel maintained a close relationship in their time. As Wessel wrote here in his political diary what he thought of Goebbels, so the doctor thought of Wessel as the ideal SA man, “a young German worker, upright and proud, a comrade to his comrades and a leader of his following” as Goebbels would put it at Wessel’s funeral on March 1 1930.
