Today 27th of August, the Prime Minister of Ukraine announced that seafarers would be allowed to go abroad for employment on foreign vessels. For this purpose it is required to obtain a permit in the Military Office. Preliminary it was decided that in addition to the permit mentioned when crossing borders the departing seafarers should provide Seaman’s Book, Certificate of Competence, current Contact of Employment and Crew List.

It is important to mention that seafarers are not allowed to cross borders if:
- it is over 12 months passed since the last contract;
- a seafarer has been staying in Ukraine for less than 5 months.

However, we would like to draw attention that procedure and terms of crossing state borders of Ukraine as of today are under clarification and development by relevant government authorities.
