2021-04-16 13:27:08 ​​ Hyundai Heavy Industries will deliver three brand new LNG carriers for an unidentified owner as part of a contract revealed today on 16.04.

The Parent firm Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering said the deal has a price tag of about $570.9 million.

Stock exchanges reacted accordingly.

As per latest filling from Hyundai Heavy the LNG carriers will be in place at owner's base somewhere in Asia by July 2024
KSOE did not reveal any additional information.

2021-04-13 12:26:23 ​​ Nautilus International and the UK Chamber of Shipping have urged Maritime Minister Robert Courts MP to support establishing the UK as an international seafarer vaccination hub, where seafarers of all nationalities can access Covid-19 vaccines while their vessels are in ports around the UK.
The letter comes ahead of global talks on a range of key maritime issues, including access to vaccination for seafarers, which are due to take place at the International Labour Organization between 19-23 April 2021.
In a joint letter to the minister, Nautilus general secretary Mark Dickinson and UK Chamber of Shipping CEO Bob Sanguinetti wrote: “In many nations, seafarers are not being prioritised for vaccination by their domestic vaccination programmes. Without such prioritisation, the shipping industry will need to develop a global solution for seafarers to access vaccines while away from home.”
”We believe that the UK can take the lead in calling for a global solution and that to do so would be to pre-empt and to mitigate issues likely to be faced by seafarers travelling internationally, such as the need for vaccination passports to facilitate travel.”
”With the UK as a global maritime leader and the home of the International Maritime Organization, we feel that a UK international seafarer vaccination hub will be an ideal showcase of the UK’s maritime offer to the world.”
Mr Dickinson and Mr Sanguinetti further argue that this move would mitigate difficulties faced by seafarers in accessing coronavirus vaccines and therefore prevent further disruption to global trade.
As keyworkers, who spend months at a time away from home onboard their vessels, seafarers face significant barriers in accessing domestic vaccination programmes.

The LUV-1908 designed for Organic Sea Harvest.
The Landing Utility Vessel (LUV) 1908 is the scaled version of the LUV 1608, which entered in service on August 2019.
The LUV 1908 has all the advantages of its predecessor, which until now was unique among vessel types serving the aquaculture sector.
Her bow ramp for go anywhere with almost RoRo like capabilities.
Vessel equipped with the higher freeboard and a larger crane. In addition, she offers a bigger deck space, which considered will allow to make operations smooth and safe.
Although the LUV 1908 is a compact 19m in length and 7.5m across it has a total of 100m² of unobstructed deck space rated at 2.5t per m². In total, the vessel can carry 40t of cargo and also has day accommodation for up to eight people. This includes a toilet, drying locker, pantry/ mess room and an off-watch seating area and navigation console on the bridge.

2021-04-08 19:20:09 ​ The Suez Canal Сhief - Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, said that authorities were negotiating a financial settlement with the Japanese Owners of m/v Ever Given.
“We are discussing a peaceful resolution to the matter without resorting to the judiciary.”
Also he mentioned that bringing the case before a court would be more harmful to the firm than settling with the canal’s management as per Egyptian law.

The canal Chief also reminded that Suez Canal Authority was expecting more than US$1 billion in compensation.
The ship will remain in canal's lake, where authorities and the ship’s managers are investigating the root cause of the accident.
This amount includes:
- the salvage operation;
- costs of stalled traffic and lost transit fees on the time of Canal blockage.

Vessel's VDR was deployed, but no conclusion had yet been reached on what led the Ever Given to run aground.

Canal's Authorities denied to discuss possible causes, as well as the ship’s speed and the high winds that buffeted it during a sandstorm.
We can't comment on an ongoing investigation.

Anyway all initial reports on “blackout” struck the vessel, were denied by the ship’s technical manager.
Rumors about the Master's incompetence or wrong actions still non-confirmed but have place to be.

The canal authority seriously considering a modernization of the Canal to avoid such a catastrophe in future.
A maritime traffic jam that had grown to more than 420 vessels waiting on both ends of the Suez Canal and in the Great Bitter Lake make a shipping different.

Today we work with the ships, which are bigger in times than before when the Canal was established, so the "Ever Given" it is a first bell for us to realize on - how we can stand in front of world's shipping crisis in the future?
