Past Future Imperfect Continuous Tense

FUNCTION:

It is used to express the ‘idea’ that in the past an action/event which started in the past was predicted, planned, promised, expected or obliged to have been still being continued at some certain time in the future of past or while another action/event happened later in the future of past.

Time adverbs which can be used: {all Time Adverbs for Past, Present or Future.}

Mostly continuous and normal verbs are used.

FORMULA AND EXAMPLES:


(I) Subject + [should/would] + have + been + verb_ing + {adverbs}

(A) Subject + [should/would] + have + been + verb_ing + {object/adverbs}

(P) Subject + [should/would] + have + been + verb_ing + verb-pp + {by object/adverbs}

(I) You should have been waiting here before I left from the store. (Past-Imperfect Continuous) (Obligation)    

(I) I would have been working in this company for a year on my birthday next week. (Future-Imperfect Continuous) (Prediction)

(A) They should have been preparing the materials since last week.
(Present-Imperfect Continuous) (Obligation)
