On April 23 and April 27, FLEX ETOI program participant Aiperi Daiyrbekova, FLEX ’17 implemented the “Life in Art” project. The project aimed to integrate children with disability into mainstream activities. Trained by a psychologist, volunteers who are secondary school students, spent two days with children with down syndrome. The first day was dedicated to art-therapy, where children painted and played with volunteers. The second day was spent on the eco-farm, where children planted seeds and made crafts from modeling clay.
As a result of the project, the volunteers were able to see the inner world of the “special children” and understand their uniqueness. The interactive activities and fresh air on the eco-farm improved the emotional and psychological state of the project participants.
