The Milwaukee police officer accused of assaulting two photographers while off-duty during a protest against police brutality last summer was charged with misdemeanor counts of battery and disorderly conduct Wednesday.

Matthew Willmann, a 14-year veteran of the department who received a 45-day suspension for his role in the altercation, now faces up to one year of imprisonment and up to $11,000 in fines if convicted on both counts.
